Greetings CDM Fantasy Sports Affiliate,
In this, our 2003 second quarter newsletter, we will update you on the latest games we are offering. As we advised you in our last edition, now is the time to offer games that will begin over the next few months. We invite you to take a look at the latest banners and games we have available. There are plenty of options regardless of what your particular customer base may be.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Some of our affiliates haven't updated their bookmark with the url for the Affiliates website. The correct URL is: http://affiliates.cdmsports.com
QUARTERLY TIP
A few months ago, one of our CDM affiliates called and asked why his links don't seem to be drawing customer clicks. He went on to state that he offers four other affiliation links and was not getting any clicks on those either. After taking a look at his web site, it was easy to see why he may not be getting the clicks -- I logged onto his homepage and I couldn't see the links. After searching a bit, I discovered two words down the right margin of the page that read "Affiliate Links." The reason I didn't notice this at first was because it required me to 1) look hard for it and 2) because of the width of his web page, it required scrolling to the right to see everything.
I'm reminded of the old axiom in Real Estate Sales. Ask any successful broker what is most important in making a sale and they will say "Location, LOCATION, LOCATION." This holds true just as well when offering promotional information on a web site.
Users of the Internet have a short attention span, and click from site to site. Rarely do they take time to read every word or click every sub-category you may offer. To place an affiliate banner in a location that is not immediately visible will likely gain little results. Instead display one or several banners across the top of your main page to get optimum results. If that doesn't work for your web site, place the banner or link along the left margin of the page so that no scrolling is required. The closer to the top of the page the better. Also, make sure you use the banner itself or text link. DON'T place the banners and links under a separate link saying "affiliate links" or something similar; users just won't click it.
Finally, always place the banner or link on as many of your pages as you possibly can. Remember that many customers may not go to your main page. If they are regular customers, they may more than likely bookmark certain pages that they find more useful or enjoy the most. These "regulars" may only see your main page very rarely. So put the banners or links on most, if not all, of your pages. As was the case with this particular affiliate, once he made these changes, he saw immediate results. Not just on our banners, but his other affiliates' banners as well.
GAMES CURRENTLY AVAILABLE TO PROMOTE
At the bottom of this newsletter, there is a summary of the six featured games that we recommend promoting now. Four of the featured games are fantasy football games, one is a fantasy auto racing game, and one is a fantasy baseball game. Of the four football games, one is a rotisserie-style game (Football Challenge sponsored by USA TODAY/Sports Weekly), and two are fantasy-point-style games (Pro Football Weekly Fantasy Football and Budget Football). The fourth football game, the Pro Football Winners Challenge, challenges participants to pick one winning NFL football team each week. Points are awarded based on whether the team wins or loses, and by how much. A given NFL team only may be selected one time. In its third year of operation, this is an easy and fun game to play, and costs only $ 10.
By clicking on each game’s logo in the summary table, you can easily go to its website to access the complete rules, pricing, and prizes. We also are offering a High Roller Fantasy Football game this year with a $ 1000 entry fee. If you think this game may appeal to your customer base, please feel free to promote it. Banners and artwork are available via the CDM Affiliates website.
As a reminder, to promote a game and receive credit for the entries you generate, you must first put the banners and artwork on your website and link them to our games with your affiliate code. To do this, visit the CDM Affiliates website and use the Graphics and Artwork and Linking Instructions pages. Please feel free to contact us if you are having any problems with this.
We here at CDM Fantasy Sports hope you have found this newsletter helpful. We look forward to a long and satisfying relationship with you. Should you have any questions or should there be any information which you would like covered in future newsletters, please contact Stephen M. Parker at sparker@cdmsports.com.
